Yes or No
A single card to answer your yes or no question directly.
Overview
"Should I text them back?" "Is this job worth applying for?" "Am I overthinking this?" Sometimes you don't want nuance — you want a straight answer.
The Yes or No spread works differently from other single-card pulls. Instead of interpreting the full meaning of the card, you're reading its directional lean: does this card's nature point toward yes (forward motion, opportunity, alignment) or no (resistance, delay, misalignment)? Upright cards tend to push toward yes; reversed cards often introduce hesitation or a "not yet." Cards like The Tower or Ten of Swords are clear no's regardless of orientation. Cards like The Sun or Ace of Cups are almost always yes.

Your Answer
— The direct answer to your yes or no questionThis card gives you a directional answer, not a nuanced one. Major Arcana answers carry more weight — a yes from The Sun means something different than a tentative yes from the Two of Wands. Pay attention to whether the card feels enthusiastic (strong yes), cautious (yes, but with conditions), neutral (maybe — rephrase your question), or resistant (no, or not right now).
How to Read This Spread
Frame your question as a clear yes-or-no before drawing. Vague questions ("What about my love life?") don't work here — rephrase to "Should I ask them out this weekend?" The more specific the question, the more useful the answer.
Draw one card. Check its yes/no leaning — most tarot resources categorize each card as yes, no, or maybe. If you get a "maybe" card, it usually means your question needs to be more specific, or the timing isn't right for a binary answer.
Reversed cards add nuance: a reversed yes-card might mean "yes, but not the way you're planning it" or "yes, but you're not ready yet." A reversed no-card can mean the obstacle is temporary or within your control to remove.
