Archangel Metatron

Metatron governs sacred geometry — most visibly through Metatron's Cube, a geometric figure derived from the Fruit of Life pattern within the Flower of Life. In Kabbalah, he sits at the top of the Tree of Life, associated with the sephira Kether (Crown) and sometimes Daath. His colors are gold and violet, and Tuesday is his traditional day. Crystal associations include clear quartz, selenite, and moldavite — stones connected to clarity and high-frequency work. Practitioners call on Metatron when working with energetic clearing, accessing spiritual records, or studying esoteric geometry. He's also traditionally invoked for protection of children and to help people moving through major spiritual transitions — not because he's gentle, but because his domain includes the architecture of how things are structured and ordered.

Metatron doesn't appear in the Hebrew Bible or the Christian canonical scriptures. His earliest substantial appearances are in the Jewish apocalyptic texts 1 Enoch and 2 Enoch (roughly 1st century BCE to 1st century CE), which describe the patriarch Enoch being taken to heaven. The name Metatron itself surfaces prominently in 3 Enoch (Sefer Hekhalot), a Jewish mystical text likely compiled between the 3rd and 7th centuries CE, where he is called the 'Prince of the Presence' and 'Lesser YHWH.' The etymology of the name is debated — proposed origins include the Greek metathronos (one who stands behind the throne) or the Latin metator (measurer, guide). In Kabbalah, he became firmly associated with Kether on the Tree of Life. Modern New Age popularization came largely through Doreen Virtue's Archangels & Ascended Masters (2003) and subsequent writers like Kyle Gray and Diana Cooper.
